Brief 2- Creating our first prototype

Before creating the actual bag, we decided to create a cardboard one first to see the sizing and if it would actually work.

We created two separate cardboard pieces, one being the main bad and the other being the bum bag which would be detachable from the bag. Initially we thought the sizing was ideal but soon realised it would be much smaller once we would ave taken 1cm in from the fabric. This meant we would have to create bigger pattern pieces in order for it to be the correct size.

Once we made the bag, we create a foam back which would attach to the back of the bag. Altogether the bag looked really good and worked well. This meant we were ready to get the tutors feed back and start looking into buying our fabrics and making the bag.

Brief 2- Developing our ideas

Once we had figured out what and who we were creating for, I created a mood board and muse board for the group which would help us create and develop our sketches for a potential bag. The boards included, our theme, inspiration  from crystals, vaporous tints, our target buyer, certain patterns and colours. reebbok mood board ex.png

After creating the boards we individually sketched 3 potential designs using the inspirations from the boards. Once doing this we met up the next day and started to create a final design for a bag which incorporated sections of the individual designs. Finally, we went for a bag which would be a shape of a small triangle, with a flat foam back to it, creating a comfortable fit for the male runners back. The bag be similar to a camel bad and would have pockets for water, phones, money and so on.

This is what the bag would look like.

Start of brief 2

Once finishing the first part of the brief with a presentation, we finally got back into our groups. Firstly we had a feedback session where we showed each other our work and discussed what we thought looked good and what we could develop for our final product.

We were told, as a group we would have to create a new baggage/carrier solution which would include our brand. For this brief we had to think about the potential buyer, age range, what it would carry whilst including the theme light.

After a couple of hours we decided we would be creating a bag suitable for a Male runner between the ages 16-35. The bag would have to be light weight, have similarities to a camel bag whilst incorporating the vaporous tints.

Brief 1- Finishing line up

For the final line up I picked 6 designs which fitted well with the Autumn/Winter19 category. These designs included over sized jackets, with the vaporous tints theme blended into them, classic Reebok shoes, and accessories which added to the sports/streetwear vibe.

As I wanted the main focus to be on the outfits, I decided the models should have a simple pose, but also fit with the theme, which was the classic streetwear side to Reebok.

This was the final creation of the line up.

Looking at the Line up, I could definitely see the streetwear/sports wear vibe which is what I wanted. I also think the Muses were correctly chosen as they fit well with the designs. I also think the colour scheme worked well as it creates a colourful yet subtle look for the winter.

Brief 1- Digital work

For my part of the group I started to create my digital work. Firstly, I started on the Muse Board as I wanted to bring in the chosen muses and why, the colour scheme, patterning and that streetwear vibe. We decided that the patterns would be a marbling effect with pastel colours such as, pinks, blues, and oranges.

Before creating the board, I made sure everyone else was happy with the chosen muses which were, Gigi Hadid and Michael B Jordan. I wanted to incorporate these two into our project as they both have a sporty/ edgy appearance to them which would compliment our designs. Gigi Hadid is also one of the Ambassodors of Reebok.

Once finishing my Muse board I started to design my final line up which incorporated mine and the others designs. The designs focused on over sized jackets/ coats and exaggerated trousers/tops.

Brief 1- Creating Muses

During the last week of term, we had a lesson on how to create Muses using a light box, finer liner pens and grey cool pens. Firstly, we needed a large print of a muse we wanted to use meaning it would be easier to draw over. After this, we traced over the face with a fine liner, then we went over it again wit the grey cooler pen to give it more definition. I found this lesson very fun as it was quite different to what we normally do.

After this lesson I was able to create my own drawings using the same technique for my potential line up for the Reebok project.

Brief 1- Deciding tasks

For our group project, we each decided what task we would do and how we would incorporate each others work into. Together we decided that I would create the muse board and the line up whilst the others would create the inspiration page and the flat drawings. Once deciding our individual tasks we decided what theme, colours, and gender range we would be doing. We wanted to keep with pastel colours and over exaggerated puffy jackets/streetwear clothing.

After deciding on our tasks we started creating our pages.

Assessment 2 (shorts)

During the last 2 weeks we have been creating shorts as our second assessment.

Step by step we were taught how to do certain sections, starting from cutting the patterns out to sewing the final pieces together. As I have become more confident with the sewing machine I was able to do majority of the steps by myself.

Creating the shorts had some ups and downs as the pattern pieces were smaller, meaning some parts would be harder to sew. However, I enjoyed this assessment more as I have never created shorts before meaning it was a new experience.

Brief 1- Reebok group

For our next brief we were put into groups depending on what brand we wanted to design for and were put with different courses such as, Textiles and Product Design. Firstly, we were introduced to the brief, looking at the theme, target audience, what each course had to finish by what time and so on.

After this we were put into our groups. The group I am in has picked Reebok and has 7 people in total. 3 from Fashion, 3 from Product Design and 1 person from Textiles. Our first thing to do in our groups was to get to know one another. Some of us were much more louder than others so you could tell who would possibly be the team leader to the quiet one who does the thinking.

As a group we all seem to get on with one another so far and have made the effort to listen to one another, learning a lot of things about each other.IMG_9877

Once we got to know a little bit about each other, each course showed each other the studios/ work shops we use to create things during our time at the uni. This was quite interesting as we got to see  different machines that are for various uses, different styles of prints, colours and fabrics manipulated and finally the dresses my course had created for the first brief.

Finally, once giving each other a tour of our work spaces, we started to think about what ideas we could bring into this brief and what our pros and cons were within this area.

Photoshoot

Once finishing the dress we had to do a photoshoot of our dresses. I wanted someone who portrayed a simple look so my dress would be the centre of attention. I also wanted to keep the makeup simple, again to make sure the model didn’t over power the dress.

Setting the scene was the most important part as I wanted to pick a place where there was bright lighting to enhance the dress. I decided to go with the staircase as there was a clear corridor with bright lighting which meant the dress would be seen well.

Taking the photos myself was bit of a challenge but I feel as though the photoshoot turned out well.
